Tour Historic and Affordable Homes in Pullman / Roseland
Tour Affordable Homes at the First Annual Pullman / Roseland Parade of Homes
Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago (NHS) and Park Bank Initiatives (PBI) are sponsoring the first Annual Pullman/Roseland Spring Parade of Homes on Saturday, May 3 from 10 am to 2 pm and on Sunday, May 4 from noon until 4 pm. New construction homes in Roseland, and beautifully restored townhomes in the Pullman Historic District, will be available for touring. Single-family homes, two-flats, and spacious condominiums all will be showcased as part of this special weekend.
The free Parade of Homes event will begin at Park National Bank at 1000 E. 111th Street. Participants will be asked to register at this location and will be given a welcome packet and gift, information on the homes, and a map delineating the location of the homes. Free van service will be available hourly to transport participants from the bank to the variety of homes on tour. Participants can also “self-tour” once registered. Refreshments and beverages will be available, as well as door prizes at each of the homes on display.
The Pullman/Roseland Spring Parade of Homes will feature eight different homes including two-flats and condominiums. All the homes showcased in the Spring Parade will be available for purchase with prices starting as low as $135,000, depending on the buyer’s income; most homes are available for immediate delivery.
According to David Doig, President of Park Bank Initiatives, “The Parade of Homes weekend will give Chicagoland the opportunity to become reacquainted with two of the City of Chicago’s most important and historic neighborhoods. Just as importantly, interested homebuyers will have the opportunity to own one of the beautiful restorations that have been recently completed.”
“All home exteriors, including windows and porches, have been carefully restored to preserve the original design details,” added Doig. “Homes will have new roofs and extensive masonry refurbishment has restored the original charm of the homes. In addition to showcasing historic homes in Pullman, the Spring Parade of Homes will also offer tours of brand new single-family homes and two-flats in Roseland.”
"This is a wonderful opportunity for families to purchase a newly constructed home in Roseland or a completely renovated home in historic Pullman,” said Floyd A. Gardner III, Deputy Director, Single Family Programs for NHS Redevelopment Corporation (NHSRC). "With interest rates being at favorable levels, coupled with the availability of these fantastic homes, the time is now for first time homebuyers to realize their dream of homeownership. NHSRC can help every step of the way in purchasing a quality home with an affordable mortgage."
