CA23 Interior Designer Shares Simple Steps to Reinvent any Room on a Budget

A Look Inside The Brixton Group’s Newest West Loop Development: Jessica Margot Shares Her Timeless Tricks for Well-Priced Design

CHICAGO, July 9, 2009 - Whether decorating a new home, re-designing an outdated space, or providing an entire facelift to an existing abode, sprucing up the look of your house can quickly turn into a pricey venture.

“Most people don’t know where to start when it comes to decorating their home, so they end up recreating the rooms they see in magazines and on television,” said interior designer Jessica Margot of Jessica Margot Design, Inc.  “However, for novice designers, there are some simple design tricks that can quickly and inexpensively transform any room.”

Mix old with new:  Look for one-of-a-kind items to show an appreciation for the artisan and make your home stand out, Margot says.  Meld different styles, colors and patterns to help show-off your personality.

Enhance with color: Painting a room is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to create a big difference.  Margot recommends selecting colors that not only represent the feeling of the room, but also embody your personality.  For example, neutrals offer a timeless look and always present a great sense of peacefulness.  Look for earthy, golden, warm tones, such as cocoa, caramel, cappuccino and cinnamon, or raw shades of white, sand and grey.   To pack a punch, try adding a bright color to a single wall or piece of furniture.  This will help provide your space with a classic look that will easily transition along with your taste.

Embody existing elements: Look for the natural appeal of your home by focusing on the sleek lines, gentle curves and details that are built into the space.  Over-sized lamps, mirrors and florals can all help accentuate these types of design elements.  If your space is more geometric than curved, adding decorative accents made of silver, chrome, glass, crystal or Lucite can create the illusion of natural curves in an area where there are none.

Add some green: Plants are a great contribution to any room.  Indoor plants also improve indoor air quality.  Look for inexpensive options such as bamboo, Chinese evergreen, English ivy, Gerber daisies, chrysanthemum and peace lily for their beautiful look and air cleaning abilities.

Jessica Margot is a certified interior designer and the principal of Jessica Margot Design, Inc.  She is also the designer behind The Brixton Group’s West Loop development, CA23, which has received much acclaim for incorporating the timeless and contemporary interior design elements mentioned above throughout.

“I chose to hire Jessica to design the model space for CA23 because of her innovative ideas and ability to extend her style into the concept I created while developing CA23,” said Geoffrey Ruttenberg, president and CEO of The Brixton Group.

The CA23 space Margot designed features natural stone, wood and glass elements throughout, while using subtle, neutral colors to bring light and depth into the space.  The result is a bright and welcoming home that mixes modern luxuries with a classic look.
