Lakeside Tower
Skyline, lake views from South Loop
Lakeside Tower was designed to maximize views of the lake to the east and the skyline to the north with a unique site plan, according to architect Ray Hartshorne, a principal in Hartshorne & Plunkard. The building in the South Loop's Central Station community will sit at a 45-degree angle, facing northeast on the corner of 16th Street and Indiana Avenue.
The design for the glass and concrete tower, marketed and co-developed by New West Realty, is contemporary, though the strong vertical emphasis, accented in blue, displays a clear art deco influence.
Floor-to-ceiling glass
About 75 percent of the 143 units at the 19-story condominium development had been sold in October 2004, less than two months after sales began, according to New West.
Prices at Lakeside Tower ranged from the $240s to the $460s in July 2005 for condos with one to two-plus bedrooms, one or two baths and 763 to 1,183 square feet.
The development features floor-to-ceiling windows, private balconies or terraces granite countertops, stainless appliances, hardwood floors in living areas, and pre-wiring for telephone, cable and high-speed Internet. A sales center for Lakeside Tower is open at 1218 S Indiana Ave.
